IPA Frequently Asked Questions

What is “shared savings?”

Many physicians have joined forces to increase the fee-for-service rate for office visits and procedures. In contrast, our goal is not to raise this rate but rather negotiate a bonus for providing quality care at a reduced cost to the insurance plans, i.e. a performance-based bonus. In return, this savings will then be a reward paid from the insurance plan to doctors in our network above and beyond their current fee-for-service rate.

What is group purchasing?

With a larger network of primary care providers, we can get more efficient office/ medical supply, health insurance, and malpractice insurance costs with our vendors. You are not obligated to use our vendors. On average, physicians will save 18-20% in supply costs. The same applies to malpractice and health insurance.
